Best moment of 2008

Yeah it's that time of the year when every single blog does that retrospective about the major events of the year. As I'm not really different from everyone else, I decided to post here that memorable, historical, life changing event. I think you will all agree with me that this is, without a doubt, the best moment of 2008. Let me know, if you agree with me. Here it is.

Light of Darkness

Maybe hope is overrated or maybe it is not. I hope you can judge for yourselves. During the season of hope I wish you all a Merry Christmas. SO, MERRY Christmas!

The italian writer

I love films that have "meet-cutes" as someone would say. It's the awkward encounter, it's the improbability of that meeting, it's the opposing personalities and yet all comes to full circle when they are united. Some would call me naive, some romantic, some desperate. I call myself faithful.Yes, I still believe in fairy tales and happy endings. I don't know if the Italian writer is one of those films, but it has what it takes to compel me to watch it. Good actors, a great story, great soundtrack and a "meet-cute". What else can you ask for? Anyway, If you want to have a glimpse of what the film is about, you can go to the official page or watch the beautiful clip from its soundtrack that I post here. I hope you like it!

The shadow of your smile

I always had a thing for old songs, for old famous songs and I found this amazing version of "the shadow of your smile". I couldn't resist posting it. Sarah vaughn really gives me goosebumps. She is amazing! I hope you like it too!

The shadow of your smile
When you are gone
Will color all my dreams
And light the dawn
Look into my eyes, my love, and see
All the lovely things you are to me
A wistful little star
Was far too high
A tear drop kissed your lips and so did I
Now when I remember spring
All the joy that love can bring
I will be remembering
The shadow of your smile
Now when I remember spring
All the love that joy can bring
I will be remembering
The shadow of your smile...

Yes, We did It!

"If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer."

Palin's prank call

Well, I had a good laugh when I first listened to this.

That's why men are still in power. Unfortunately, there are lot's of Palin's everywhere who prove them right. I hope in a near future, someone proves them wrong!

The nicest Thing

Just found out this song today! I wish I could have written this lyric. It's perfect, if there's such thing as perfection!

The Nicest Thing

All I know is that you're so nice,
You're the nicest thing I've seen.
I wish that we could give it a go,
See if we could be something.

I wish I was your favourite girl,
I wish you thought I was the reason you are in the world.
I wish my smile was your favourite kind of smile,
I wish the way that I dressed was your favourite kind of style.

I wish you couldn't figure me out,
But you always wanna know what I was about.
I wish you'd hold my hand when I was upset,
I wish you'd never forget the look on my face when we first met.

I wish you had a favourite beauty spot that you loved secretly,
'Cos it was on a hidden bit that nobody else could see.
Basically, I wish that you loved me,
I wish that you needed me,
I wish that you knew when I said two sugars, actually I meant three.

I wish that without me your heart would break,
Yea, I wish that without me you'd be spending the rest of your nights awake.
I wish that without me you couldn't eat,
Yea, I wish I was the last thing on your mind before you went to sleep.

Look,
All i know is that you're the nicest thing I've ever seen
And I wish we could see if we could be something
Yea, I wish we could see if we could be something

Agora sim, damos a volta a isto!
Agora sim, há pernas para andar!
Agora sim, eu sinto o optimismo!

Agora sim, temos a força toda!
Agora sim, há fé neste querer!
Agora sim, só vejo gente boa!
Vamos em frente e havemos vencer!

Agora não, que me dói a barriga...
Agora não, dizem que vai chover...
Agora não, que joga o Benfica...
e eu tenho mais que fazer...

Agora sim, cantamos com vontade!
Agora sim, eu sinto a união!

The Cinnamon Peeler

Today I received a lovely postcard from Amsterdam with a note about a poem by Michael Ondaatje. I Liked it so much that I decided to post it here. I hope you like it.

THE CINNAMON PEELER

If I were a cinnamon peeler
I would ride your bed
and leave the yellow bark dust
on your pillow.

Your breasts and shoulders would reek
you could never walk through markets
without the profession of my fingers
floating over you. The blind would
stumble certain of whom they approached
though you might bathe
under rain gutters, monsoon.

Here on the upper thigh
at this smooth pasture
neighbor to your hair
or the crease
that cuts your back. This ankle.
You will be known among strangers
as the cinnamon peeler's wife.

I could hardly glance at you
before marriage
never touch you
-- your keen nosed mother, your rough brothers.
I buried my hands
in saffron, disguised them
over smoking tar,
helped the honey gatherers...

When we swam once
I touched you in water
and our bodies remained free,
you could hold me and be blind of smell.
You climbed the bank and said

this is how you touch other women
the grasscutter's wife, the lime burner's daughter.
And you searched your arms
for the missing perfume.

and knew

what good is it
to be the lime burner's daughter
left with no trace
as if not spoken to in an act of love
as if wounded without the pleasure of scar.

You touched
your belly to my hands
in the dry air and said
I am the cinnamon
peeler's wife. Smell me.

Holidays

Grande é a poesia, a bondade e as danças…

Thought of the week

The essentials to happiness are something to love, something to do, and something to hope for.

That's what you get

That's what you get when you start acting like a teenager. That's what you get... Beware, the 1st symptom is this. Gosh. I hate when this happens.

That's what you get

No sir, well I don't wanna be the blame, not anymore.
It's your turn, to take a seat we're settling the final score.
And why do we like to hurt, so much?

I can't decide
You have made it harder just to go on
And why?
All the possibilities...
Well I was wrong

That's what you get when you let your heart win. Whoa!
That's what you get when you let your heart win. Whoa...
I drown out all my sense with the sound of its beating.
And that's what you get when you let your heart win. Whoa.

I wonder, how am I supposed to feel when you're not here.
'Cause I burned every bridge I ever built when you were here.
I still try... holding onto silly things, I never learn.
Oh why? All the possibilities. I'm sure you've heard.

That's what you get when you let your heart win. Whoa!
That's what you get when you let your heart win. Whoa..
I drown out all my sense with the sound of its beating.
And that's what you get when you let your heart win. Whoa.

Pain, make your way to me. (to me)
And I'll always be just so inviting.
If I ever start to think straight,
This heart will start a riot in me,
Let's start... Start, hey!

Why do we like to hurt so much?
Oh why do we like to hurt so much?

That's what you get when you let your heart win!
Whoa.

That's what you get when you let your heart win, whoa.
That's what you get when you let your heart win, whoa.

Now I can't trust myself with anything but this,
And that's what you get when you let your heart win, whoa.

Dance me to the end of love

Video of the week:

"Dance Me To The End Of Love"

Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin
Dance me through the panic 'til I'm gathered safely in
Lift me like an olive branch and be my homeward dove
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love
Oh let me see your beauty when the witnesses are gone
Let me feel you moving like they do in Babylon
Show me slowly what I only know the limits of
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love

Dance me to the wedding now, dance me on and on
Dance me very tenderly and dance me very long
We're both of us beneath our love, we're both of us above
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love

Dance me to the children who are asking to be born
Dance me through the curtains that our kisses have outworn
Raise a tent of shelter now, though every thread is torn
Dance me to the end of love

Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin
Dance me through the panic till I'm gathered safely in
Touch me with your naked hand or touch me with your glove
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love
